The thing about reading /. every day and post the off pro-Microsoft post is that you get to see linux activism in action. Generally it's well reasoned, although sometimes boneheaded, sometimes it's outright mad. Apple have the same sort of following, although the activism seems less technically based and again their have their own nutcases, including people who sent hate emails to the author of a joke article about taking the guts out of a G5 and replacing them with PC parts. Now it appears that Microsoft and in particular the MS smartphone have their own rabid "activist" who is simply going too far.

When I bought my first smartphone it was not without problems, so being "old school" I turned to usenet first, where Microsoft have the microsoft.public.smartphone group. It was somewhat educational. The developer groups tend to have arguments over the right way to do things, but the smartphone group had a religious nutcase, Jacek Rutkowski, posting under jpzr or MSMobiles. Apparently an ex-Nokia employee, who left under unknown but obviously not voluntary circumstances would post haranguing the Microsoft Mobile team, proclaiming to speak for all MS smartphone users and insulting the Finnish (well he has a chip about Nokia), the French (understandable <g>), the Irish, the English and other racial groups. He ranted against the MVPs (Microsoft Valued Professionals - non Microsoft employees who know their topic and give their free time to help others), he foamed when anyone would dare suggest that a non-Microsoft phone might present a better option and flamed news sites who dared to differ in opinions. Let's not even comment on the accuracy of some of his tabloid reporting or his "censorship free" yet moderated and censored board.

Now it appears he's taken to calling people at home.

For those looking for MS Smartphone resources I suggest

If you do come onto the smartphone newsgroups then you may want to learn what a killfile is and how to use it.

Russell, you have my sympathies.
