Phil is forking .Text
If you've ever caught yourself throwing your hands in the air and declaring that you're going to write your own blogging engine from scratch, Subtext is going to be for you
And my, do I regret that decision sometimes as I never seem to find time to add the features I want. For a long time I manually wrote the XML for each blog entry on this site and copied it into the right directory on the server. I have to admit being peeved at CS, it's just too big and ugly and the seperate projects have fallen by the wayside. I wanted more granular security for nGallery, but it's dead now. I'm looking forward to seeing the road map for Subtext; I wonder how easy it would be to migrate everything. Migration always seems to fall by the wayside, when people switch engines the permalinks die and that's just horrid. I wonder if a custom, generic 404 that reads a mapping file would be useful for any blogging engine? That way the pain of migration would vanish and all your old permalinks would still work. Phil ...... oh Phil .....
(Oh and as my wife usually finds my spelling mistakes, a spell checker would be nice as well.)
