Sky by Broadband, uninstalling kservice.exe properly

Sky appear to have listened and published instructions and software on how to remove the p2p aspects I discovered were running left behind when you uninstall their broadband application, Kontiki's kservice.exe. Interestingly they list other programs that will stop working, including

BBC iMP, Kontiki Delivery Manager, Cinequest Delivery Manager, AOL Hi-Q Delivery Manager, Palm Support, and the Open Media Network.

It does make me wonder if any of the software listed above is honest about what is installed and why on earth the Kontiki aspect cannot be cleaned out as part of a normal uninstall.

I only found out about Kservice exe by accident, if it had not been for my broaband failuer, i still would not know about this psp program.
thanks to all that put up blogs on the net, i have now removed this program by following instructions.

very annoyefd with this sky do not mention this will effect your download speeds etc and also that it will not uninstall when you remove sky any time

My sysem was in invaded by KService after installing BBC iPlayer Beta. The firewall messages kept showing attempted installation of Kontiki sofware as soon as the AOL website was opened. After looking at blogs by 'Geoff' the c:\Program Files\KService file was found and deleted. No further messages from the firewall have been received.
However the deleted file did not appear in the recycle bin. So has it actualy been killed or is it lurking somewere else? In the registry?
Incidently the BBC film download was impossibly slow, half an hour to load 65%, at which point I gave up.

Further to Keith Lindsey's comment I found a Kontiki website on Wikipedia,

Chris - I also have been invaded by KService.exe after installing BBC iPlayer Beta. Or I should say trying to instal it - I don't think I managed to complete the process, so I gave up. I wondered where the 'KService.exe' had come from, but now I know, thanks to your post. I was also very interested to read your comment about the impossibly slow load time of BBC programmes. I think I will abandon BBC iPlayer - it sounds hopeless. Thanks again for your helpful comments.

I've just downloaded BBC's iPlayer & KService.exe has surfaced.

Out goes iPlayer. I refuse to have a parasite on my PC.

Why doesn't the BBC mention KService & Kontiki??

Setting aside the obvious lie in the details;
Because Kontiki is a Windows service, not an application, it can only be removed using KClean; Kontiki cannot be removed using the "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel.

(Really? I can remove SQL using add/remove); Sky now provides a Cleaner for Kontiki

I have kservice.exe and its the thing that runs 4 on demand! It always bugs me about my internet connection, and slows down my startup like anything!!!

I will uninstall 4od, and see what happens. good forum.
