For the last few months I've been having a tingling in my hands, and not the good type. When I ended up dropping things a couple of weeks back I went to the doctor (well, being male you ignore any sign of illness until it becomes a real problem). "Ah, RSI" she said, "Do you have private health insurance?" Finally a reason to use the BUPA coverage I have been paying for through work.

The private appointment date arrived (it's a couple of weeks away, nice to see even going private doesn't give you any great speed when getting a consultation :S) so I rang BUPA with the details. Now this doctor charges 10% above BUPA rate, so I have to make up the difference if I need surgery, which is bad enough (and could be very expensive), but when I asked BUPA if they covered wrist splints which may be prescribed to prevent surgery the answer was "No sir, we don't cover those".

This makes no sense to me; the splints could prevent the expense of surgery but are excluded from the insurance. Utter madness.
