Dear Recruiters, it's generally not acceptable to spam someone with unsuitable jobs at their work address which you managed to work out because it's in the format of firstname.lastname@example.com;
I just got slimed. You expect recruiters to use the phone list, it's easy enough to brush off, but when they spam your work email address with jobs that simply aren't suitable it's a little annoying; after all my home email is easy enough to discover via goggle. So over my mid-morning coffee I drafted a reply...
I have to admit to puzzlement. I'd never give my work email to recruitment pimps, and my home one is known by most people and is easily googled.
The jobs you have on offer far below the Employer remuneration package and anyone that knows me at all knows the contempt I hold architects that don't code in.
So one can only assume you've worked out the Employer email format and sent this to me (and probably a bunch of others here whose names you've scraped from somewhere like linkedin). You realise of course that this violates both the spirit, and the letter, of the Data Protection act, which considers email addresses to be personal information which you cannot use unless it's been given to you by the owner, unless you have an existing relationship with that person, and I don't believe I've ever heard of you, or your company (although I realise I could be mistaken). Lets just ignore the lack of your company registration ID in your email which is now a legal requirement in the UK.
Furthermore some simple awareness of this sector of the industry would make you aware of the annoyance that most technical people have with spam, or indeed recruitment agents that recommend jobs that aren't suitable, or don't improve upon current situations
Add to this your website, where if you click on your logo you get an email popup addressed to info@childcareObscured.co.uk. I doubt my sisters would consider my caring capabilities for my niece and nephews professional after I brought them back from the beach this weekend covered in sand and seaweed.
Please detail my contact details from your database immediately.
(Of course this email details personal opinions and not those of Employer plc.)
Well I'm not having a fun day, so it lightened the mood.
There's an added bonus however. They don't seem to understand the difference between reply and reply all as the following email landed in my inbox about 5 minutes later;
Absolutely
It is amazing the time he went to

5 minutes is amazing? I feel sorry for Paul's partner.
