Appealing to your interviewer's vanity?

Or should it be appalling? One of the results of having (as far as I know) a unique name is the fact that a quick google search finds you. I've been interviewing potential candidates last week and will be doing the same this week, but last Thursday the candidate let slip his agent told him to research me as well as the company.

Uh-oh; it's not like I'm the typical employee ... the poor candidates are going to get completely the wrong impression. If you are interviewing with me this week then bonus points for mentioning this post, jaffa cakes, cash in a brown envelope ...

I googled everyone with the last round of interviews I did (don't you google your candidates?).

Personally I'd take a chance and bring along some Jaffa cakes at least it shows that I've looked something about you up (which shows a modicum of initiative).

Mind you, I'd guess a Barry interview IS somewhat different from the norm.

Well today is someone with a name like "Andrew Jones". Googling that isn't much use.

And what do you mean? Don't you ask your candidates to juggle which recreating a well tempered exception on the white board?

Glad you asked Gary. I had to go and look it up myself.

It seems to be having all three constructors and being serializable (which I ALWAYS seem to end up cutting and pasting 'cos I can never remember it)

Not a term I'd heard of before...

A well tempered exception sounds good when played in any key.

Hmmm. Not a great analogy.

Your brown envelope containing Jaffa Cakes is on its way, but I suspect the Royal Snail will squash them.

'well tempered exception' is a meaningless buzzword.
I specialise in meaningless ACRONYMS (WS-etc.).
