A tight little bunch of nits … tightly nit bunch. I’d suggest if you’re waiting for the video of my DDD8 session you forget it. The good bits – the interruptions are below …
Plip's Book Advert.
Liam's Eulogy.
Colin Mackay's new source of presentations.
Craig Murphy insulting not one but two ex-UK community folks.
It is with a heavy heart, for various reasons, that I’m boarding the Microsoft big white taxi from Heathrow this afternoon. Obviously I’m going to miss family, but the UK .NET community has been part of my life for too long a very long time now and contains a great many friends and one soulless ginger northern git who I will miss a lot. Of course I’ll still be abusing them on twitter and I hope that the stuff I am working on will provide me with enough ammunition to speak at TechEd and any other conference that will have me … it’s a whole new continent of conference organisers who don’t know me at all and thus who don’t know what they’re letting themselves in for …

Good luck, don't get too nervous and remember to play nicely with the natives (and immigration officials) now.
Awww you'll have a great time. I expect that bed to be kept warm for me in Redmond.
Say hello to the space needle, haven't been since I was seven years old, when I looked like an older version of Ben Hall.Have a good time, and remember, you get to blame anything that happens in the next week on jet lag.
Remember, it's a minimum 18% tip everywhere. Good luck, mon vieux haricot. I think you've just escaped 10 years of Cameronism ;o)
I'll miss you - Don't know why, but I will!Good luck in the new job and I hope I'll see you sometime soon.
Ah, so actually it's all part of your plan for world domination...Best of luck on your new adventure Barry! We'll miss you - no, really, we will. There'll be a Dorrans-shaped hole at the next DDD!Phil
Good luck in the new job, and hope your stuff makes it across the pond some time before Christmas. As others have said, DDD won't be quite the same without you arguing with the audience and remotely hijacking other peoples sessions. Beth and I have also got you to thank for teaching us Flux a few years back which has flumoxed many a friend over the years...
Bye.
I'm sure the .NET community will miss you just as much as you'll miss them. It's a shame you're going so far away - but I wish you the best of luck in your yankee adventure! Don't forget to introduce yourself as the 'irish lanky git' and show them the crystal maze video - it might be better coming from you than the UK community... ;)
Best of luck Barry, Don't forget to take a personal translator with you just in case they don't get the accent or wit.
*sniffle* ... life just won't be the same. But enough about DDD8 being over, what's all this about you leaving for Redmond? I'll miss you. Don't upset too many people over there.
@Daniel I haven't shared the Crystal Maze video with Scott Hanselman and co. Yet.Barry, a regular package from the company store can buy my silence :-)
Where's the crystal maze short? ;-pBesides, you can help teach those yanks how to spell - oh, er, hmmm...Good luck mate.
#DDD8 video @blowdart on encryption, typing mistakes, session hijacking and Crystal Maze: http://vimeo.com/9241853Good luck Barry - you know we'll miss you here in the UK!
