TripIt - Web 2.0 spam

So yesterday I received the usual web 2.0 "Your friend wants to connect with you to swap tips on styling your hair" type email. This time it was from TripIt. I ignored it, I’m social networking fatigued anyway, but sharing when I am away from my house strikes me as a bad idea. Nothing new there until this evening. How not to poach

So I just had an email from one of work's rivals. It's a pretty small market at our level; above us you have the big consultancies, at the middle tier where we are there's really only a couple of other companies covering the same area competing for the same customers. It appears one of our rivals has gotten a copy of the Exchange address book, as they've slimed myself, everyone working here at the current client (including someone who is rather new, and so doesn't have his work email published anywhere) and even slimed management. Recruiter fun and games

Dear Recruiters, it's generally not acceptable to spam someone with unsuitable jobs at their work address which you managed to work out because it's in the format of firstname.lastname@example.com; I just got slimed. You expect recruiters to use the phone list, it's easy enough to brush off, but when they spam your work email address with jobs that simply aren't suitable it's a little annoying; after all my home email is easy enough to discover via goggle.
